In days gone by shoe shopping would mean heading into town to try on several pairs of shoes. Once we narrowed down our selection we completed our purchase and went home, sometimes wearing the very shoes we’ve bought!
Well today is a different story, now as online shopping is gaining increasing popularity we are privy to a much wider selection. Instead of just shopping locally we can shop across the globe from the comfort of our home. Hurrah, we can now get super specialised in our requirements and we might even get them at a reduced cost. Since we aren’t buying a coffee or paying for a car park that leaves us even more money for shoes. So lets not delay, if you want a successful purchase follow these 5 tips for buying shoes online:
1. Measure Up
Being a size 6… but sometimes a size 5… well maybe a 4 1/2 in particular brand doesn’t cut it. We need stats, we need numbers and to get them we’re going to trace our feet. So take a few minutes to trace out the outline of your naked foot onto some paper.
With these measurements we can now compare our shoe size to the chart that will be listed on your shoe retailers website. (This might not be apparent but is standard across all major shoe retailers)
2. List Our Shoe Requirements
Since there is such a wide choice of shoes its easy to get side tracked and maybe even buy shoes that you don’t really need (*SHOCK*) but we can fight off these urges if we just write down what we’re looking for.
3. Check Shipping Fees and Delivery Dates.
You’ve found the perfect pair of little red shoes and you just want to take them home for the ball on Saturday. Well, double check the delivery times for your shoes and allow an extra day or two for delivery unless you’re paying for priority tracked shipping you might have to wait up to a week.
4. Reputation Check
If you’ve found a pair of shoes on a lesser known site take some time to google the retailer. You might even be able to find good reviews from previous customers, but more importantly you’ll be able to see quite quickly if others have had trouble.
5. The Paper Trail
Keep receipts of everything you buy online, so if your shoes don’t quite fit right or if their quality is somewhat lacking you’ll have all the paperwork to send them packing. We also recommend using a credit card for all purchases since this will give you added protection from scams and shady dealers.
